In addition to the construction of transmission lines between substations, it is also necessary to build communication optical cables to realize the communication connection between stations. Because of the existing transmission line access, communications cables generally hitch a ride on the transmission line. There are many classifications of optical cable. The main ones we use in power construction are:

1, "loose tube lamination cable" (because mainly through the pipe laying, so commonly known as "pipeline cable")

2. ADSS (all-media self-supporting optical cable)

3. OPGW (Optical fiber composite overhead ground wire)

Pipeline cable

Pipeline and optical cable are generally used for laying pipes in substations.

Pipeline cable commonly used models have

"GYFTY" : non-metallic reinforced member, loose sleeve layer stranded fill type, polyethylene sheathed

"GYFTZY" : Similar to above, except the outer sheath is flame retardant sheath

ADSS optical cable

ADSS (All Dielectric Self Supporting): All dielectric self supporting cable

Definition: A non-metallic optical cable that contains the necessary supporting elements and can be suspended directly from a tower.

The same non-metallic fiber cable, ADSS relative to the pipeline fiber cable is roughly the same, mainly increased aramid wire, so that it has the ability to "self-bearing", with a certain strength, do not need to be attached to any twisted wire and independent erection. Less investment, light, hanging in any part of the tower will not increase the tower too much load. The construction method is simple. Because of these advantages, the ADSS cable is particularly convenient for hanging on a running line. So it is widely used.
