The selection of the type of 12-core ADSS cable should first consider the requirements of electrical performance, that is, the space that 12-core ADSS can withstand should be electric field (potential) size.


This is because the 12-core ADSS cable works near the high-voltage line, and there is electromagnetic field in the space around it. The capacitive coupling between cables makes the cable in a position of spatial potential. When fog, dew point or light rain occurs, the wet dirt forms a layer of resistance on the surface of the outer sheath of the cable.


When the space potential action, the surface of the sheath on the tower cable grounding between the current flow, current heating, leading to evaporation of water vapor, on the surface of the outer sheath of the fiber optic cable to form a small section of dry ground, blocking current.

When the potential difference of dry zone reaches a certain height, it will produce an arc, which is called dry zone arc. The thermal energy generated by the crosslinked polymer gradually loses its binding force, forming corrosion and fusible holes in the sheath. This kind of failure is called sheath corrosion or electrical mark, in severe cases can lead to broken cable.


The type of outer sheath used for 12-core ADSS depends on the space potential of the installation position, as well as the voltage level of the power line, tower structure, wire layout, phase arrangement and other factors.
