What is ADSS Cable?


Due to its unique structure, good insulation and high temperature resistance, as well as high tensile strength, the all-dielectric self-supporting ADSS cable provides a fast and economical transmission channel for power communication systems.


ADSS cable is cheaper than OPGW in many applications and easier to install. It is desirable to use power lines or pylons near them to erect ADSS optical cables, and even necessary in some places.


The difference between AT and PE in ADSS optical cables, AT and PE in ADSS optical cables refer to the sheath of the optical cable.


PE sheath: Ordinary polyethylene sheath. For 10kV and 35kV power lines.

AT sheath: anti-scar sheath. For 110kV and 220kV power lines.



ADSS cable laying advantages


1. Strong ability to withstand extreme weather (wind, hail, etc.).

2. Strong temperature adaptability, small linear expansion coefficient, to meet the needs of harsh environmental conditions.

3. Cable diameter is small, light weight, reduce the impact of ice and wind on the cable, but also reduce the load of the power tower, maximize the use of tower resources.

4.ADSS cable does not need to be attached to the power line or the bottom line, can be erected on the tower alone, and can be constructed under the condition of no power failure.

5. The performance of optical cable under high intensity electric field is extremely superior, and it will not be subjected to electromagnetic interference.

6. Independent from the power line, easy maintenance.

7. It is a self-supporting optical cable, which does not require auxiliary hanging wires such as hanging wires during installation.


The main uses of ADSS optical cable


1. As the introduction and extraction cable of the repeater station of the OPGW system, based on its safety attributes, the problem of power isolation can be solved well when introducing and extracting the repeater station.

2. As a transmission cable for optical fiber communication system in high-voltage (110kV-220kV) power network. In particular, many places have made convenient use of it when retrofitting old communication lines.

3. Used for optical fiber communication system in 6kV ~ 35kV ~ 180kV distribution network.
